After a festive feast, many people face the consequences of the holiday: acne and rashes. I will tell you how to save yourself from it.

What is acne?

It’s the medical name for acne and the most common skin condition. The appearance of acne signals a malfunction of the sebaceous glands located under the hair follicle. They are blocked by dead cells and sebum.

In addition, bacterial contamination can occur, because each clogged cell is just the perfect place for those very same bacteria to live, multiply and thrive. As a result, we see inflammation. Acne most often appear on the face, back, on the chest. In other places they appear much less frequently and, as a rule, one pimple at a time.

Acne signals hormonal problems in the body. After all, it is hormones that provoke the skin to abundant production of fat, and the pores do not cope with the fact that it is removed outside. Exacerbation in most cases occurs in adolescence and lasts up to a maximum of 30 years.

But it happens that genetics disposes so that in adulthood acne remains a threat, both cosmetic and quite medical. Some types of pimples have to, alas, remove surgically, with the risk of leaving scars.

Why do rashes appear during the holiday season?

The reason for the appearance of acne is that in the active pre-holiday rhythm of life sometimes there is no room for systematic skin care, as well as a healthy diet and exercise. Our skin does not receive timely cleansing from decorative cosmetics and sufficient moisture.

At this time, the face must be watched very carefully, because it is attacked by frost, dry air in heated rooms and temperature differences. These factors increase the risk of transepidermal loss of precious moisture.

One might assume that acne also came from an unbalanced holiday diet: sweets, fat, alcohol, all at night and in large quantities. But some studies show that food has no significant effect on the appearance of comedones.

Nevertheless, exceptions do occur. There are people who are really helped by limiting or completely avoiding sugar and dairy products.

And if it will not be too cruel experiment for you, you can try to adjust your diet and not to eat herring under a fur coat with two or three pieces of cheesecake. It might work to help yourself in this way.

Acne prevention for winter time

Be sure to use products that help restore the hydrolipidic mantle and the protective skin barrier. In their composition should be ceramides, squalane and probiotics. With their help, the microbiome of the dermis is restored.

What to do if acne is already present and is not going to go away? Pay attention to means with adapalene, azelaic acid, benzoyl peroxide. But first consult your doctor.

And if you need to get rid of the annoying problem immediately, you can undergo a procedure of combined cleaning at a cosmetologist, complementing it with a course of peels with acids: azelaic, almond or salicylic.

And do not forget to drink enough water, because the level of hydration is an essential factor in the condition of the skin. An easy rule of thumb is to drink at least one glass of clean water 20-30 minutes before each meal.
