I can not recommend drinking alcohol in any form – on most nutrition protocols it is forbidden.

Alcohol has a lot of calories

Alcohol is a high-calorie product. On average, 1 g of a hot drink contains 7 kcal. The higher the strength, the more calories. However, for flavor, syrups, sugar and yeast are also added to cocktails, because of which the energy value increases several times.

What to do with it?
To keep the perfect figure, drink alcohol that is not strong and watch the amount and calorie content of what you drink.

Alcohol stimulates the appetite

Alcoholic beverages do provoke feelings of hunger. In addition, alcohol is usually accompanied by snacks, not always the healthiest and often very caloric: snacks, sandwiches, fruit, spicy, salty and savory. They further whet your appetite.

What to do about it?
It is better to eat snacks consisting of proteins and fats to feel satiated. Olives, hard cheeses, meat, fish, seafood, green and leafy vegetables, nuts and seeds will do. You can also beautifully serve chickpea or lentil hummus with carrots, celery, cucumber, cauliflower or offal pates with crackers or chips made from flax, coconut, beets and kelp.

Alcohol is toxic

The body identifies alcohol as a toxin and throws all its energy into processing it. Therefore, everything that was eaten together with strong drink (proteins, fats and carbohydrates) is deposited in fat. Moreover, with genetic damage to liver function, the body has a harder time dealing with alcohol and its calories go into fat.

What to do about it?
Again it’s worth keeping an eye on the amount you drink and not overeating. Also more often give preference to red dry wine, as it contains resveratrol – the most powerful antioxidant.

If you have no contraindications for drinking alcohol and you watch your weight, you can occasionally allow yourself a little alcohol. A glass of dry red wine is preferable. But it is important to watch the amount and calories, eat only quality snacks that will satisfy hunger.
