How to learn how to fight. Rules for beginner fighters that are worth knowing

Imagine that you have been watching martial arts competitions for a long time and finally decided that it is time for you to plunge into this world. You have enrolled in the section near your home and decided that soon you will fight on a par with Conor McGregor, mentally trying on the belt of the champion.

Take your time. Before you commit yourself to martial arts, familiarize yourself with the important rules for aspiring fighters. After all, the world of martial arts is harsh and requires serious training and a lot of knowledge in different areas. Just coming and swinging your fists for an hour is not going to work. Of course, if you want to become a real professional.

Strengthen your body

If you have decided to come to martial arts, but have never practiced sports before, we have bad news – you will not be able to simply arrive at the section and quickly grow to the professional level.

First you need to prepare your body for serious loads. This can be done with the help of simple exercises, for example, from the Cooper test. This is a combination of basic movements that will help to work the whole body well at the initial stages. It includes:

  • push-ups;
  • abs;
  • boat;
  • squat jumps.

Perform each exercise 10 times. You can do from three circles, but look at your condition – if you realize that already on the second circle it becomes difficult for you, it is better to reduce the number and do less, but better. You can increase the load later, when your body gets stronger.

By the way, Cooper’s test will help not only to strengthen your body, but also to test you for physical strength. Read more about it in this article.

Realize the importance of warming up

We have already written a lot about the importance of warming up. But let’s repeat – if you don’t do joint exercises and light cardio before every workout, you will do irreparable damage to your health in the future.

Cardio is great to help develop proper heart function when exercising. If this is not done, the organ will “choke”, work poorly and subsequently wear out faster.

Joint warm-up will help warm up the muscles and joints, which will help avoid injuries. Draw an analogy to running the engine in your car – a responsible owner always warms it up before traveling. So why don’t we do the same with our bodies?

Look for a good trainer, even if it takes time

Finding a good professional to guide you on your journey to your goal may not be a quick process. Be patient and realize that you may have to proceed by trial and error.

Choose a trainer very responsibly, it is especially important in martial arts. Find a person, look at his work, come to his first session and if you are satisfied with everything, start training.

If suddenly you are confused about something, it is better to postpone going to training and look for another mentor. It is better to wait a little and look for a longer time than to throw your money away. And in the worst case scenario, you could also hurt yourself.

Take care of your health

This is the most important point that should be learned by a beginner fighter. When you first come to martial arts, your body is rebuilding. There can be a risk of injury.

To reduce it, you need to closely monitor the mineral and vitamin balance in your body. If there is an imbalance in it, hormonal disorders will appear. And then everything will go the same way.

Do not try to train to exhaustion. You need to go to training for pleasure, so competently build a regimen and do not forget to rest. It’s also a good idea to monitor your health indicators: blood pressure, heart rate.

To prevent health problems or catch them early, to be able to track positive and negative changes in your body, you will need to spend time studying medicine, anatomy and physiology. This is important so that you can get a better feel for your body and get yourself in peak shape. Sports peak is when your physical activity is at its maximum.

For detailed comments from Eduard and the technique of performing the exercises from Cooper’s test, see the video on “Championship”.

If still you are not ready to go into martial arts professionally yet, but you want to master some techniques, it is commendable! In the article, we told you how to properly hit a hi-kick and prepare to work on this kick.
