“I could do it, and so can you!”: how a girl in a wheelchair became a fitness trainer
Tiffany Adams does things in the gym that not every fully healthy athlete can do.
In 2000, 17-year-old Tiffany Adams suffered a spinal cord injury and lost the ability to walk. However, the girl did not despair, but decided to prove by her own example that life does not end here. Today Tiffany is a coach, mental coach, actress, model and blogger. Despite her injury, she lives life to the fullest and helps others to see the world from a new angle. We tell you how Adams’ life turned out and how a girl in a wheelchair became a fitness trainer.
Problems at school, an accident and life after
Tiffany Adams was born in 1983. She spent her childhood in the suburbs of the small town of Lodi, California. Tiphanie was quite a problem child: she had to study in five different schools – several times she was almost expelled. In adolescence, the situation worsened, and only in high school the girl took the path of correction. As she said herself, she was helped by classes in the choir and theater club – since childhood Adams dreamed of becoming an actress.
In 2000, a terrible car accident forever divided her life into before and after. Tiffany and her friends got into an accident when they were hit by a drunk driver at a speed of almost 200 km / h. The rescuers who arrived at the scene were sure that there were no survivors. However, the girl miraculously managed to save herself.
After a three-week coma, Tiffany came to her senses and learned that her friends were killed, and she herself was bedridden – because of spinal injuries, the lower part of her body was paralyzed. Nevertheless, the American was in no hurry to give up.
Having recovered her strength, she returned to school and finished it very successfully. Then the girl went to San Joaquin Delta College, where she began to study child psychology – even in sixth grade Adams tried herself as a teacher, holding a class of preschoolers.
Dreams of Hollywood and fitness
After receiving a higher education, Tiffany again remembered her dream – to become an actress and model. To do this, she moved to Los Angeles and began attending auditions. Wanting to become a new Hollywood star was not so few, but the girl managed to interest several agencies. She was asked to get in shape, and Adams went to the gym for the perfect body.
At first she did not do without the help of a personal trainer, but a year later she herself began to conduct classes. “Actually, I’m a good trainer. I can tell my clients, ‘Hey, if I can do it, you can do it’!”, Tifani often jokes. Soon she launched her own coaching program and now helps others to deal not only with nutrition and training, but also with thoughts and psychological problems.
In addition, the girl almost managed to realize her dream. In 2012, she starred in the reality show Push Girls. Together with three other participants, Adams showed what it is like to live with paralysis in the modern world and yet remain an active and cheerful person.
Tiffany Adams’ workouts
During her workouts, the girl puts the main emphasis on the muscles of the arms and chest. One of her favorite exercises is the bench press. The wheelchair does not interfere with it at all, on the contrary, often Tiffany uses it as an alternative to a barbell or a weighted weight for pull-ups.
In addition, Adams does yoga and swimming. And her abs are the envy of many phytonians. The trainer also carefully monitors nutrition and generally adheres to a healthy lifestyle.
Today, Tiffany continues to train herself and leads personal training, appearing on television and as a guest speaker at educational institutions. She inspires thousands of people by her example and is not going to stop there.
