“Once Upon a Time in… Hollywood.” Why does DiCaprio have a potbelly and Pitt has abs?

While the new movie directed by Quentin Tarantino “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood” continues to steadily win the hearts and wallets of viewers around the world, in social networks, more or less focused on fitness and healthy lifestyle, a serious discussion broke out around the appearance of the two main stars of the project.

In contrast, in the same tapes and publiki posted pictures of Brad Pitt, whose movie career in a multitude of roles in which he demonstrates steel abs and relief muscles. Well, and, of course, the question-admonishment: “Well, how so, Leonardo, why did you so run yourself?”

It is possible to get rid of the potbelly, but… is it necessary?

Of course, as it is common in social networks, there are hearty with advice to DiCaprio not to despair, to take care of themselves and finally “put the body in order”. The second part of them argues that not everyone can have a six-pack ABS, that genetics, physique and all that.

Luckily for DiCaprio, he probably doesn’t go deep into reading all the posts, reposts and so on. Otherwise, he’d probably get discouraged. But there is good news for him! Those who say that if he takes care of himself, starts going to the gym regularly, hires a trainer, a nutritionist, then by the next role may well be able to finally and victoriously pull up his shirt and demonstrate that the “dad body” has not left a trace.

The question is why? I address it to all those who come to me for advice on how to lose weight quickly and bring themselves to a state close to fitness standards. Why drive your body to such a low percentage of body fat that it will begin to see it as a survival threat, with all the consequences that entails?

Would it beautify your (or Leonardo DiCaprio’s) life so much to be able to show off super-shape at any given time? Provided that the price of such an opportunity is very high. You will not be able to get away with 2-3 visits to the fitness center, of which the lion’s share of time will be spent on adjusting the cardio-trainer and relaxing in the sauna. You will have to “plow”, often very hard, sometimes – almost on the edge of physical capabilities. But this is not the worst. Much sadder is the case with the diet. You simply lose the opportunity to eat “by eye”. Everything must be counted, checked with the tables BJU. Yes, you can sometimes eat huge slices of pizza with ice cream, but the key word here is “sometimes”, even “sometimes”.

Some people are lucky

Yes, some people are lucky and their bodies are inherently set up in such a way that they are comfortable existing with a low fat percentage. And even not very bother counting calories and sports, there is an opportunity to look victoriously at the neighbors on the beach vacation. But there are only a few of them. The fact is that we are all descendants of people who were evolutionarily programmed to be able to store fat. Otherwise, in times when food was not supplied to supermarkets, it was impossible to survive. “While the fat is drying out, the thin is dying.” That is why our body is great at storing fats in almost limitless amounts. But then it can use these reserves to reach the moment when it manages to catch up and kill another mammoth.

Brad Pitt and Leonardo DiCaprio.

Brad Pitt and Leonardo DiCaprio

Leo’s example. How to realize that your figure is normal?

So before you judge DiCaprio, you should look critically at his physical conditions, but not from the standpoint of fitness standards, but from the point of view of health and physiology. And then it will turn out that the appearance and percentage of fat mass is quite well within the “gold standard”. You can, by the way, quickly check whether you meet these parameters. To do this, you will need a sartorial meter. The waist circumference for men should be less than 94 cm, and for women – 80. If the result is more, then it is no longer a question of beauty, but a threat to life and health. Obesity and all the associated diseases, among which type 2 diabetes is not even the worst. In this case, going to the gym and close attention to nutrition is very much justified.

Pitt: nutritionist, training and love of restrictions

And then what is Brad Pitt? Why is he so hired that at 55 years old he obviously spends several hours a week on training, and even splurges on the services of a nutritionist (maybe, however, and deals with food himself, it’s not difficult)?

Unlike those in the fitness industry, for whom the prizes for participation in competitions and sponsorship contracts with manufacturers of sports nutrition and clothing is the main source of income, he can obviously afford to choose roles that do not require every time to exhibit on camera a muscular torso. Well and understudies (the role of which Pitt, by the way, performs in “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood”) also no one canceled.

Personally with the actor is not familiar, I can only assume that he just… likes it. Yes, imagine, such a lifestyle (hardcore training in the gym, fiddling with food, the habit of ignoring the feeling of hunger, etc.) can also deliver a high. I can’t explain it in words, so for those who want to try it, I suggest you just try it. But I warn you, there is a risk that you will like it. And you will become a carrier of the diagnosis “brain fitness” in the eyes of others. But, as far as I’m concerned, it’s worth the gamble.
