Roller and guasha stones are the mastheads of the season for facials

Massage rollers and guasha stones have become more and more common in the accounts of Western beauty bloggers. Massage using these accessories has become an integral part of the lives of Hollywood stars, such as Demi Moore. Today this technique is widespread in Russia: rollers and guasha stones are sold almost on every corner. What are the peculiarities of these devices, why they are needed and how to use them correctly, will help to understand the expert on facial fitness, co-founder of Face Fit facelift studios and author of the marathon “Do Face” Maria Fadeeva.

What are mesoroller and guasha?

Mesoroller is one of the oldest devices for massage at home. The principle of its work does not differ from the usual massager: it stimulates blood flow in the tissues. Roller compact and easy to use. Massage can be done whenever and wherever it is convenient: at home, in a cab or in the office during lunch break.

Guasha is also a massage tool. It gets its name from the technique of the same name, which was first mentioned in ancient China in the I century BC. Guasha is a special scraper made of natural material with teeth of different shapes and sizes. A guasha scraper is more difficult to use than a roller, but the effect will not last long.

Maria: I can’t say which is better, it’s not necessary – the tools complement each other. Roller in this complex is responsible for muscle acceleration, warming up, and guasha – for sculpting.

As a result of regular care with roller and guasha stones, the facial oval is tightened, wrinkles are smoothed out, the facial contour is sculpted, and the skin color acquires a beautiful and healthy shade, the tone is evened out.

What are roller and guasha for?

Maria: In addition to instantly dispersing the lymphatic system and reducing puffiness, the mesoroller also provides quick and safe elimination of wrinkles and enlarged pores, stimulates collagen production and activates tissue regeneration. Moreover, it enhances the effectiveness of the creams, gels and masks used.

As a result of actions with guasha stones activates blood flow, increases microcirculation, relieves muscle tension. But first of all, this tool is responsible for sculpting: it helps to emphasize the cheekbone line, to achieve a clear face oval, to reduce subcutaneous fatty tissue in undesirable places.

What material to choose?

Available materials are many, but it is better that the product was natural. The expert, as a rule, works with tools made of medical steel. This is a very durable material. In addition, it holds cold well – there is no better remedy for relieving morning swelling than a guasha stone straight from the refrigerator. After 2-3 minutes of such a massage and no trace of swelling will remain.

How to use roller and guasha correctly?

Two main and simple rules.

First: before you start self-massage, you need to apply a means to ensure glide. This can be a special gel for massage or your favorite day cream. The expert does not recommend using oils – most often they clog pores.

Second: all actions – and roller, and Guasha stones – are performed along the massage lines, should start from the center of the face to the periphery, be fast enough and confident.

What massage techniques are there?

Maria: There are so many combinations, but they are all quite simple. You can work on any area of the face, but be sure to follow the rule mentioned above – it is important to move along the massage lines. So you will straighten the nasolabial fold and wrinkles on the forehead, and also emphasize the facial contours, leading the roller and guasha from the center of the chin towards the ears.

What precautions are there?

At home, you are unlikely to harm the body using these means. But it is worth paying special attention to facial massage if there are rashes (for example, acne) and problems with the thyroid gland. In such cases, it is worth consulting with a specialist.

How to do the massage?

Maria: The main rule in the technique of self-massage with guasha stones is to move along the massage lines. Each exercise (step) should take no more than one minute. Before starting the massage, apply an oily cream or gel to your face so that the combs glide rather than stretch the skin. If you wish, you can put the combs in the refrigerator for five minutes before the treatment to enhance the toning effect.

Step 1. The largest (oval part) of the gouache work the cheekbones, moving from bottom to top. You can change the position of plates and alternate smooth sides with ribbed ones. So emphasize the cheekbone line and facial contours.

Step 2: We put the ridge wavy part at an angle of 45 degrees and work the interbrow zone from bottom to top. Smooth out the crease between the eyebrows, remove wrinkles, relieve tension.

Step 3. With the ribbed side of the plate, moving along the massage lines (from the beginning of the eyebrows to the ears), “scrape” the supra-brow area. Continue smoothing the forehead.

Step 4. Turn the plates in the opposite direction and apply the smooth part to the nasolabial fold. With active smoothing movements we work on this area.

For a noticeable result it is enough to devote 5-7 minutes to the exercises. The main thing is to do it regularly.
