Let’s find out together with a nutritionist, nutritionist and fitness trainer.
What happens if you shift the time of meals by only 90 minutes? Scientists say that such a simple trick can help you lose weight twice as fast as usual. Let’s see if it’s true.

The effectiveness of the new approach in dietetics has not yet been fully proven.
The new way of losing weight was tried by 16 volunteers, who were divided into two groups. The first group ate at a certain time, the second adhered to the usual diet. It turned out that those who followed the “method of 90 minutes”, lost weight faster. At the same time, the researchers noted that the reduction in body weight was insignificant in both groups.

In the control group (who adhered to the new method), the percentage of fat mass decreased more, and this is quite understandable. The fact is that the subjects did not snack in the evening (as noted in the text of the study). And what do people usually choose to munch on in front of the TV? Chips, nuts and other fatty foods. In general, if you get rid of bad eating habits and frankly unhealthy food in the diet, weight loss and significantly improve body composition will work regardless of the time of meals. Moreover, any radical restrictions can lead to serious disorders and even greater weight gain in the future.

The best diet is the one that works for you.
A nutritionist doctor also agrees with this opinion. He notes that the effectiveness of the new approach in dietetics has not yet been fully proven. It is not clear how adequate this method is in terms of ontogenesis – individual development of the body. Here’s the thing: time-limited diet implies adjustment of circadian rhythms, the so-called “clocks” of different levels in the body. But the adequacy of this approach remains controversial. Especially since the data obtained in the study are contradictory.
Pavel: During the experiment with the use of time-limited diet, weight loss was associated with the loss of active cell mass of the body – muscle and protein. And the loss amounted to 30%, which is unacceptable. Such an effect can only lead to an increase in body fat, despite the reduction in total body weight. But, if you follow the norms of protein in the diet and regularly do sports, the cell mass will decrease within acceptable limits.
On the other hand, as the nutritionist notes, participants who adhered to the “90-minute method” involuntarily reduced the calorie intake of their diet. At the same time, the subjects were not restricted in the choice of food and calories. And this is a very serious argument in favor of the new diet.
Do you take long breaks between meals? Would you try this way?
