She’s back: the story of Malkin and Kasterova’s relationship

In 2014, she is a promising TV journalist with a booming career, he is a successful NHL and Russian national team forward. Anna Kasterova and Evgeni Malkin got married six years ago. The beautiful TV presenter and one of the best Russian hockey players seem to be an ideal couple. But on the way to happiness there were many obstacles waiting for them.

“At first it was banal SMS”

Before meeting Malkin, Kasterova’s career was going uphill. The young presenter managed to work on several TV channels, including TNT and NTV. In 2013, Anna became the host of the program “Big Sport” on “Russia-2”.

Evgeny Malkin first saw his future wife on TV and got her number somewhere. “At first it was banal SMS,” Kasterova admits. Hockey player and journalist for some time maintained friendly communication: they discussed news and astrology, which Anna is fond of. Gradually the friendship grew into a romantic relationship.

Relationships at a distance

The period of courtship at Malkin and Kasterova was special, because the lovers could see each other only rarely. He – constant matches in the NHL as a member of the Pittsburgh Penguins, she – work on television. Nevertheless, even so Eugene managed to arrange romantic surprises for his beloved.

“The way Zhenya courted me, no one has ever courted me,” says Kasterova. On the anniversary of the relationship, he prepared an unexpected surprise for Anna: in the entrance of her house the girl found a live tiger with a banner “We are one year” (Kasterova affectionately calls Eugene “tiger”). The surprise was successful thanks to Edgar Zapashny, who did not refuse to help the hockey player.

However, forever candy-bouquet period could not last, and the couple faced the question of the development of relations.

Work or a more serious relationship

From the very beginning, Malkin offered his beloved to quit her job and move to him in the United States. But for Kasterova career on TV meant a lot. In one of the interviews, the journalist’s mother said that her daughter dreamed of becoming a TV presenter from the age of 10. And Anna herself has repeatedly emphasized that she achieved professional success by her own labor.

Eugene was able to provide the chosen one, so the decision to move should have been made solely by herself. Malkin categorically reasoned about the joint future: “You need to think what to choose – or work, or a more serious relationship.” But for Anna it was not easy to abandon everything she valued.

In the end, the TV channel “Russia-2”, where Kasterova worked, closed. In its place came “Match TV” with new programs and the concept of development. Then the girl and decided to move to her lover.

Moving, family and child

A new life in an unfamiliar country at first seemed difficult to Anna. It was difficult for her to get used to the mentality of Americans, which is strikingly different from the Russian. Kasterova seemed hypocritical constant smiles and compliments. In addition, there was a longing for relatives. But gradually Anna began to get used to life in the United States. She read a lot, walked the streets of quiet Pittsburgh, cooked and practiced at home, while Malkin played in the NHL.

On May 31, 2016, Kasterova gave birth to a son – the same day the Pittsburgh Penguins club started in the Stanley Cup. A little later, the couple got married in New York. Anna completely immersed herself in the upbringing of the child. Now she is actively involved in the education of her son: she reads a lot of children’s literature and independently compiles a program for Nikita. Evgeny in his spare time is engaged in sports with his son.

Both Malkin and Kasterova consider themselves patriots of Russia. “At home we support traditions, we want Nikita to know the history of his people, proud of his origins,” says Anna.

Return to TV

On November 24, it was announced on the Match TV website that Kasterova starts full-time work on the channel. Before that, she and her husband gave a big interview to Dmitry Guberniev and held several special airings on the occasion of the channel’s fifth anniversary.

Obviously, returning to television after a long break is exciting for Kasterova. “I love my work, I will come here on Saturday,” – so Anna signs one of the recent photos from the studio.

Whether the spouses will be able to maintain a strong relationship in the new conditions, time will show.
