Should a woman eat soup every day? Opinion of a Chinese medicine doctor

In Russia, food is considered simply a means of satiety. In China, however, roots (roots of some root vegetables), berries, and useful herbs are added to food. And so food becomes a preventive measure for various diseases.

Even Hippocrates said that food should be a medicine. In China it is “inscribed” in the traditions. In Russia, this was also the case in the past, but now this tradition is gone. But sometimes housewives still use roots.

“After the birth of children, the functional system of the spleen in women is weakened, because to hold the weight of the fetus and then childbirth is a great burden on the body. Chinese medicine places special emphasis on restoring this system. And eating warm, warming foods, especially soups, is one component to staying healthy.”

Why should women eat soups?

It has to do with the so-called spleen functional system, which includes the stomach, pancreas and spleen. In modern medicine, this functional system means only the stomach and pancreas, and the spleen is considered to be a hematopoietic organ.

In Chinese medicine, the spleen is the main organ responsible for the female endocrine system.

An unexpected function of the spleen, which is not described in anatomy and physiology textbooks, is to hold the organs in place in the body (prevents the organs from prolapsing).

In terms of Chinese terminology, there is the so-called Wu-Xing system of 5 elements. The spleen, pancreas and stomach belong to the element Earth.

The pancreas and stomach digest food, and the spleen helps digest it and directs nutrients to all organs and tissues. The pancreas and stomach secrete enzymes that help digest food under certain conditions. The first condition is temperature. Therefore, hot soups are best suited for food consumption.

It is important to note the moment of seasonality. In the off-season, the pancreas, stomach and spleen need additional support. During this period, it is important to eat soups. This is especially true for women whose hormonal function is reduced.

Soups are prescribed to women as therapeutic food to correct one or another problem. The recipe even specifies the herbs and roots to be added to the soup. The dish should be thick, like a kissel.

Soups also have an enveloping function. The Chinese have a white tree mushroom in common use. It is quite mucilaginous and helps to create this property.

In China, goji berries, lotus root, black mushrooms, white mushrooms, various herbs such as bamboo sprouts, Chinese celery, Chinese cabbage, and many kinds of onions are used in daily meals and soups.

A very important and especially beneficial root for women is pueraria pilosa. It preserves youth by increasing the production of female hormones, improves the skin, while for men it has a rejuvenating effect.

Before introducing any supplements into your diet, be sure to consult your doctor.

What kind of meat to add to soup?

Chinese medicine has an interesting gradation of what meat to eat when. Speaking of the warming function, lamb meat is ideal.
