Jack Dorsey can hardly be called a typical rich man and businessman. The founder and owner of Twitter and Square does not like office suits and ties. He never dreamed of becoming an entrepreneur. Although Dorsey wrote his first program code at the age of 15, he didn’t dwell on computers.
Jack worked part-time as a model at Giorgio Armani shows, got a license as a professional masseur and from a young age tried to live the life he wanted. Now he is known not only as a billionaire and entrepreneur, but also as an influential person in the wellness industry. Jack looks great and often talks about meditation, his lifestyle and nutrition. He believes that special approach and helps to be as productive as possible in work.
Walking to the office
Dorsey has been getting to the office exclusively on foot for many years now. You’d think he built a house near his work and walks there in a bathrobe with a toothbrush in his mouth. But that’s not true at all. The billionaire lives 8 kilometers from the office and spends about an hour and a half on the road.
This time he tries to use to his advantage – listening to audiobooks, podcasts and puts his thoughts in order. Every morning he starts with a so-called salt juice – water mixed with Himalayan salt and lemon. Then a cold bath and meditation.
Meditation is one of Dorsey’s favorite things to do. He does it at least twice a day and even traveled to Myanmar, where he learned the basics of this practice.
No gadgets at night
Dorsey values the importance of sleep. Back in Myanmar, he lived for 10 days in complete silence and, of course, without any gadgets. As he later admitted, he didn’t immediately realize why this was so important and suffered greatly without his usual devices. However, after a few nights, he learned to appreciate what was going on around him and no longer felt such a need for gadgets.
Since then, he has been turning off all devices at night and leaving only the bracelet on his arm that monitors the quality and duration of his sleep.
Extreme diet
If Dorsey’s other habits seem unusual, his diet regime can be considered extreme. On weekdays, he eats only once – for dinner. His diet consists of protein, vegetables, a piece of dark chocolate and berries for dessert. This provides Jack with the minimum number of calories to get to and from work.
But that’s not the most surprising thing about his diet. On the weekends, the billionaire doesn’t eat at all! From Friday night to Sunday night, Dorsey drinks only water. And here’s how he himself commented on his diet experiment.
“The first time I tried this eating regimen, about the third day I started hallucinating. It was a strange condition. But as I continued for a few more days, it became obvious to me that our whole life is centered around food. I realized that I needed to fast further. My day seems to be many times longer now,” the businessman explained his regimen.
Jack didn’t just come up with this idea. He studied a lot of materials on the subject and came to the conclusion that the option of a single meal suits him best. All for the sake of food does not distract from work and thought process. The billionaire admitted that he used to spend too much time consuming food and did not have time to do everything he had planned.
Why this approach doesn’t work for everyone
While some of Dorsey’s habits seem interesting and perhaps even effective, what works for the Twitter founder won’t necessarily work for everyone else. Most experts are still of the opinion that Dorsey’s diet is too extreme.
Such hunger strikes can have a negative impact on the body. In addition, not everyone needs to save time to manage international companies. You should not be negligent in organizing your diet, because it is the key to your health.
