A bag of apples or three bars of chocolate: what do 1,500 calories look like?

If you do not know all the subtleties of proper nutrition, you may wonder: 1500 calories is a lot or a little? In fact, everything is individual and depends on gender, height, weight, age and lifestyle. For someone it is a daily norm, and for a conditional bodybuilder – it can be just one meal.

If you want to lose weight or gain muscle mass, counting calories is important. All foods have different energy values. But what does the difference between them look like in reality? Let’s compare on the example of one of the most common figures.

Meat and seafood

For the most part, athletes prefer chicken meat. Chicken breast is a favorite of bodybuilders, because there is a lot of protein and almost no fat. But much depends on the method of cooking. It turns out that 1500 kcal is 1.1 kg of boiled chicken breast or 900 g. fried.

Chicken shank is not as dietary as breast – there is more fat. Therefore, 1500 kcal can be found in 900 g of boiled chicken shank or 750 g of fried chicken shank.

Beef is quite nutritious, and it has many more calories than chicken: 1500 kcal is 400 g of fried beef or 600 g of boiled beef.

Shrimp are low in calories and are characterized by a high protein content. If you limit yourself to the figure we mentioned, you can gain 1.6 kg of boiled shrimp.

Tuna is part of many dishes of oriental cuisine. Its meat is rich in protein, vitamins of various groups and minerals. Fried fish contains about 153 kcal per 100 g, so 1500 kcal is 1 kg. And if we were talking about grilled salmon, the scales would stop at 600 g., as there are 250 kcal in 100 g. of the dish.

Cereals

Cereals are a healthy and nutritious product, they are rich in various vitamins and microelements, and also give a feeling of satiety for a long time. Rice, buckwheat and oatmeal contain about 300-350 kcal per 100 g. It turns out that 1500 kcal are counted in 450-500 g.

Vegetables and fruits

Banana is the most nutritious of fruits – 95 kcal per 100 g. So, 1500 kcal is contained in 1.6 kg of bananas.

Slightly less calories in grapes: 2.4 kg will fit into the designated norm.

Apples and pears are much inferior to bananas in terms of energy value – 47 kcal per 100 g. Accordingly, in 1500 kcal fits 3.2 kg of these fruits.

Oranges are one of the lowest-calorie fruits and contain about 36 kcal per 100 g. You can safely gain 4 kg of citrus fruits, this will be our limit.

Few calories are contained in vegetables. For example, 1500 kcal can be found in 4.7 kg of carrots, 10 kg of cucumbers or 7.5 kg of tomatoes.

Flour

Bread is a good source of energy, it contains proteins and complex carbohydrates. About 600 g of wheat bread is 1500 kcal. Baguette has an energy value at about the same level.

Crackers contain 450-500 kcal per 100 g, so 1500 kcal is about 300 g of the product. But dried breads are slightly less dangerous for the figure – 400 g.

Sweets

Chocolate in the record holders in calories, because 300 g of the product is 1500 kcal.

The energy value of condensed milk is on average about 320 kcal. That is, it is possible to fit 500 g into our limit. Jam and honey have about the same caloric value.

Ice cream has a caloric value of 200-220 kcal, so we can limit ourselves to 700 g.

Drinks

With the energy value of liquids things are different, since they contain a lot of water. For example, 1500 kcal is almost 4 liters of juice. But you should drink it carefully, because there is a lot of sugar.

With carbonated water, the situation is about the same as with juice. Lemonade or cola contain about 40-45 kcal per 100 g. Therefore, 3.3 liters – is 1500 kcal.

Beer has as many calories as carbonated water: on average about 45 kcal per 100 g. And alcohol has another unpleasant feature. As a rule, after drinking, we pile on unhealthy food.

Fast food and chips

Chips have long been labeled the enemy of slimness. But this does not stop young people, and the popularity of the product is only growing. And yet 300 grams of chips is 1500 kcal.

Burritos, cheeseburgers and hamburgers are very caloric. All of them are located at about the same level – 1500 kcal in 400-450 g.

There are many types of pizza, and the composition is different everywhere, but on average it turns out about 300-350 kcal in 100 g. This means that 1500 kcal is half a kilogram of Italian dish.

French fries – 170 kcal per 100 g. It seems that the figure is small, but do not forget that they fry it on a huge amount of oil. Approximately 900 g – 1500 kcal.

If you are watching your own weight, it is important to know the energy value of the products you eat. But do not forget that there are “empty” calories: you do not benefit from them, and everything eaten is deposited in fat on the body. Therefore, it is worth taking care not only of the quantity, but also of the quality of food.
