“Before the price hike, we bought skates for 15,000 rubles.” How much does it cost to raise a hockey player’s son?

It’s not always bad to have ice in your heart. Especially when it comes to hockey players, because it is in their hearts. It’s great when a child shows interest in sports at a young age and enjoys what they do. Who knows, maybe children’s games will grow into something more: a favorite hobby, a job, a vocation.

We continue our text series on how much children’s sports cost. Today we’re joined by the mom of a boy hockey player.

“When my son was still a baby and learning to take his first steps, in the store he asked my dad for a small stick, the set still had a plastic puck. He, like a clumsy bear cub, ran with the stick, took out a pacifier, when he got close to the puck, hit it and said: “Zhzhukha”, and then put the pacifier back in his mouth. From that day on, he never parted with the stick. I took him to soccer and wrestling, but nothing hooked him like hockey. Now he says he was born to be only a hockey player.

As for the financial side of the issue: if you buy really high-quality protection and equipment, and not something similar to it, it comes out quite expensive. There is a division into amateur and professional lines. And it is, of course, different quality and different price.

Equipment

Skates bought for 15 thousand rubles last year, now they already cost 20 thousand. Need sharpening about once every two weeks, it costs 400 rubles. Hockey sticks have a wide price range, we took Bauer for 10 thousand rubles, it was before the rise in price. Also for sticks need winding, a roll costs 800-1000 rubles, for a couple of months is enough. Next – a helmet. We took a professional for 11 thousand rubles, kragi (gloves) we bought for 5 thousand.

The price of elbow pads was a surprise: from a couple thousand to 11. And this is also a very important part of protection, and you can not save money. So are the kneepads – from 2500 rubles to 14 thousand in the children’s segment. Neck protection costs about 5 thousand rubles.

Bag

At first we took a large sports bag as a bag, but it turned out to be inconvenient. Then we bought on wheels in the form of a backpack with a handle. For a child turned out to be ideal. Prices can be different, on average 2-3 thousand rubles.

Form

Shorts cost 8500, leggings for 1000 rubles can be found, because it is a consumable material, quickly appear holes and scuffs. Thermal underwear took recently: pants – 3 thousand and a jacket – 2 thousand rubles. Socks took recently – 800 rubles. Next – sneakers for OFP, it all depends on your desire, prices can be quite different. Game jersey cost 1800 rubles, training – in the neighborhood of a thousand. If you pick up the uniform in the size, not for growth, it is enough for about a season.

Training and training camps

A season ticket for training costs 16 thousand rubles. It includes four “ice” per week for 75 minutes, two classes on general physical training and one on acrobatics – both for 60 minutes.

Also, at least once a week you need a “throwing zone”, it costs 1600 rubles. Rolling, individual training costs a minimum of 2500, this is for one hour, plus payment for ice, usually it is 1000.

An away game costs 3500 rubles. The summer training camp lasts 10 days and takes place at the base of our club. They cost about 20 thousand rubles. Field camps are more expensive, but they are for older guys.

On average, a month hobby of my son costs in the neighborhood of 30 thousand rubles. This is if you take the lowest financial threshold.

Hockey players will remember their first training and game for the rest of their lives. Being a parent of an athlete is a great responsibility: support your little heroes. Taking their first steps in professional sports is very hard, they can’t do it without you.
