Pedal: Gran Fondo Russia 2019 races

Where to ride a bike and get commemorative medals at the finish line.

At the end of May, a new season of road cycling races Gran Fondo Russia will start in Russia. This year there will be four starts, one of them for the first time under the auspices of the UCI International Cycling Union. Anyone over 18 years of age can take part in the races by choosing the format and distance.

Gran Fondo Ruza

When: May 26, 2019
Where: Ruza, Ruza and Mozhaisky districts
Distance: 30km, 50km, 100km in a race format or 100km in a race format

The starting point for the second year in a row will be the square in front of the city administration building. But the route on which the participants will move has changed, this time the route will be located on the territory of Ruza and Mozhaisky districts.

UCI Gran Fondo

When: July 13-14, 2019
Where: Moscow and Volokolamsk, Volokolamsk and Klin districts
Distance: 18-20km time trial format, 100-120km in UCI qualification race format, 30km, 60km in support race format
Registration: opens in May 2019

The UCI Qualifying Race is one of the stages of the Amateur World Championships and is held all over the world. The winners qualify for the final heats, which will reveal the best competitor in each age group.

Gran Fondo Suzdal

When: July 28, 2019
Where: Suzdal, Vladimir region
Distance: 30km, 50km, 100km in race format or 100km in race format
Registration: from May to June 2019

The stage will be held in the framework of the annual festival of cycling “Veloleto”-2019. Details about the route are still unknown, but the organizers said that the route will be different from last year.

Gran Fondo Serpukhov

When: September 15, 2019
Where: Drakino, Serpukhov district
Distance: 30km, 50km, 100km in race format or 100km in race format
Registration: from July to August 2019

This year for the first time a stage will be held in Serpukhov district. Details of the route are still unknown, but it will definitely pass through the Prioksko-Terrasny Reserve, the only reserve in the Moscow region where you can see bison.
