Pre-New Year detox: preparing for the festive feast

There’s not much left until New Year’s Eve, which means it’s time to get your figure in order! Detox diet is a great way to do this. And its benefits are not limited only to weight loss. The main advantage is the purification of the body from harmful substances. What is the meaning of pre-New Year’s detox? When is it better to start and how long should it last? Are there any restrictions? These questions were answered by nutriciologist Anna Berseneva.

Why do you need a New Year’s Eve detox?

The human body is constantly exposed to negative effects. Polluted air, poor quality water, household chemicals and harmful food are to blame. Detox will help to remove toxins, which “litter” the human body.

Anna: Detox is useful for the body not only in the New Year’s Eve period. Because we live in the city, and intoxication happens whether we want it or not. It’s not just food, but also air, water, dioxin pollution. Periods of competent detox without excessive restrictions and rigidity are necessary. It should become a practice of life. Periodically, it is necessary to give the body a “full breath”.

Why is unloading especially important at New Year’s Eve? Many people have big plans for the New Year, and it is necessary to gain energy to have fun, rejoice and delight loved ones. Competent detox does not torture the body, but energizes it. An effective detox diet should “pump” the internal detoxification system, which consists of the liver, intestines, skin, lungs, etc.

When to start a pre-New Year’s detox?

It is very important not to overdo it. On the Internet you can find many dubious programs that offer to “cleanse” the body for a month, or even two. This is fraught with negative consequences for the body.

Anna: You should think about New Year’s Eve detox in December. I recommend that you spend three to seven days on a detox diet, depending on the situation. Personally, I do it within a week. I do not recommend to organize a detox on juices, which supposedly help to lose weight in a few days – this is an extremely common myth. It can cause a number of serious problems from pancreatitis, provoking type 2 diabetes to “rocking” the metabolism in a negative direction, because of which you will start to gain weight even from salad leaves.

Can you drink alcohol after detox? It’s New Year’s Eve after all!

Anna: As for alcoholic drinks, I recommend dry wine in moderate quantities as an additional source of antioxidants. The main thing is to drink water! Ideally, if it is warm (50-55°C) and with lemon. Even if the diet during the holiday will be present something acidifying the body, this way you will take care of neutralizing the negative effect.
