Where to ski and snowboard in Russia

The coronavirus pandemic made adjustments to our summer vacation plans. Back then, we told you where to spend your vacation in Russia. Now, when European ski resorts are closed for Russians, we tell you where fans of skiing and snowboarding can relax in our country.

“Rosa Khutor

A classic of the genre and one of the most famous ski resorts in Russia, which still can not be overlooked. “Rosa Khutor” is located in the Adler district of Sochi, 40 kilometers from Adler. This resort is unique due to its climate: it welcomes tourists all year round, and in summer invites them to its own beach on the Black Sea coast.

The cost of a ski pass for the season 2020/2021 is 3450-3950 r./day depending on the selected dates.

The cost of equipment:

  • alpine skis, boots, poles and helmet for elementary and intermediate level of skiing – 2000 r./day;
  • alpine skis, boots, poles and helmet for above average level of skiing – 2600 p.p./day;
  • snowboard, boots and helmet for the initial and average level of skiing – 2000 p./day.

Sorochany

The closest year-round sports resort to the capital, located in the village of Kurovo, Moscow region. Although the slopes here are not comparable to those of “Rosa Khutor”, you can spend a great weekend in Sorochany. Besides, on some days the slopes are open till 2-3 o’clock in the morning.

Thecost of a ski pass for the season 2019/2020 was 90 p. for one lift on weekdays and 180 p. on weekends. – on weekends.

The cost of equipment:

  • alpine skis, boots, poles and helmet – 800-1100 p/hour on weekdays and 1550-1750 p/hour on weekends depending on the category of equipment;
  • snowboard, boots and helmet – 600-850 p./hour on weekdays and 1150-1300 p./hour on weekends, depending on the category of equipment.

Sobolinaya Mountain

A ski resort located near the town of Baikalsk, practically on the shore of Lake Baikal. One of the most picturesque ski resorts in Russia. It is notable for atypically mild climate for Siberia: the average daily temperature in winter is -10-15 degrees Celsius.

The cost of a ski pass is 1100-2150 r./day depending on the selected dates.

The cost of equipment:

  • ski set – 300-1100 p./day depending on the day of the week and boot size;
  • snowboard set – 800-1100 p./day depending on the day of the week.

Dombai or Dombayskaya Polyana

Located in Karachay-Cherkessia, at the foot of the Main Range of the Caucasus Mountains. In addition to skiing or snowboarding here you can admire picturesque views of neighboring mountains and gorges.

Thecost of a ski pass in the new ropeway complex is 1800 rubles per day. At other complexes the cost of one lift is from 150 to 500 rubles.

The cost of equipment:

  • skis/snowboard, poles, boots, helmet – from 600 to 700 r. depending on the day of the week.

Igora

A year-round sports resort located near St. Petersburg. It is located near the village of Sosnovo in the Leningrad region. Igora boasts the longest slopes and the biggest height difference in the Leningrad region.

The cost of a ski pass for 4 hours is 1100 p. on weekdays and 1550 p. on weekends.

The cost of equipment:

  • ski set – from 840 to 1370 p./day on weekdays and from 1040 to 1520 p./day on weekends depending on the category of equipment;
  • snowboarding kit – 940 p./day on weekdays and 1040 p./day on weekends.
