What is the correct way to do the narrow grip bench press?

This variant of the exercise will help to save joints and pump two muscle groups.

The bench press with a wide grip is a rather traumatizing exercise. Especially for the shoulder joints, because they are under great strain. To minimize the risk, you can narrow the grip. Moreover, this variant of the exercise will allow you to pump two muscle groups at once – pectoral and triceps.

When performing the narrow grip press for different muscles, it is important to take into account the distance between the hands. To work the pectoral muscles, leave about 40 cm between your fists, and for the triceps – no more than 10. And don’t forget about proper breathing: while lifting the barbell, be sure to exhale, it determines the correctness of the exercise and, most importantly, its effectiveness.
