What would happen if you ran 5 kilometers every day?

Alex Crockford went out for jogging every day. We tell you what came out of it.

Running is one of the main components of a healthy lifestyle. It doesn’t require any special equipment and is accessible to almost everyone. All you need is a pair of running shoes.

But running is different for everyone. Someone is ready to overcome 10 kilometers and more, and someone is enough for a maximum of five. British fitness trainer and blogger Alex Crockford decided to conduct an experiment. He ran five kilometers every day for a month. And then told what came out of it.

On a personal experience

I wanted to find out what I was capable of, so I decided to do it. I wanted to inspire people to run. But it wasn’t an easy experience both mentally and physically.

It’s worth noting that before starting the experiment, Alex hadn’t gone for a run in over six months. The first five kilometers he ran in 29 minutes, at the same time, he admitted, he felt insecure.

“On my own, I started running faster every day,” says the blogger. – Gradually the distance gave me more and more easily. At the same time, I did not stop training in the gym.”

What are the results of the experiment?

In the first ten days of training, Crockford improved his time from 29 minutes to 25 minutes.

After completing the challenge, Alex recorded a video of the results.

In it, Crockford confesses, “Running only made my legs stronger, and my knees felt much better too. On the last day I decided to test myself and speed up a bit to see if my time had improved. I ended up running out of 23 minutes. So in just a month I’ve lost seven minutes from my first result.

But Alex also found disadvantages to the experiment: “The schedule doesn’t leave much room for normal recovery. It’s definitely not suitable for those who have a hard job that doesn’t allow them to fully recover. By the way, during the experiment I got sick, because of which I missed the 18th day of the Challenge. With such a regimen, you need to be sure to watch your diet in order to recover and be in good shape,” Crockford summed up.
