Over the weekend, the body relaxes, the daily routine is often changed, and after a rest it is always difficult to go back to work. You can not argue with this, especially when there is scientific evidence – and we will talk about them.

Why is Monday difficult?

Monday is a difficult day both psychologically and physiologically. Studies show that it is the day when many people feel emotionally overwhelmed. Why? This question interested American scientists in the field of mental health, who decided to find out the real reasons for the general dislike of Monday. Among them – feeling depressed because of the upcoming work, fatigue after the weekend, the need to return to the work regime and routine, early rising, lack of sleep and, as a result, a change in biological rhythms.

Sergei: The main reasons why we have a hard time on Monday are improper sleep and a disrupted daily routine. During the week we get used to going to bed and getting up at the same time, correctly adjusting the biorhythms. Our work schedules require us to do this. On weekends we often try to sleep in to compensate for the fatigue accumulated during the week. But the body doesn’t know this, and on weekends it tries to wake up at the same time as on weekdays. As a result, this leads to restless sleep and subsequently – to increased irritability.

How to make Monday easier?

Sleep in moderation
During sleep, thinking activity is suspended, all reactions are reduced, and there is a state of rest, which is necessary to restore strength. The duration of sleep should be at least 7-7.5 hours on any day of the week, regardless of whether it is a weekend or a working day. Rest of this duration provides the necessary reserve of energy, which will be needed for the next day. Lack or, conversely, excessive sleep can negatively affect the state of the body and manifest itself, for example, a morning headache.

Take care of your comfort
The most common cause of microsleeps and, as a consequence, irritability is considered a poorly equipped sleeping place. Sleeping on an improperly selected pillow leads to “blockage” of the vessels that deliver blood to the brain and spinal cord. He experiences a lack of oxygen, the transmission of nerve impulses is disturbed. Improper position of the head and neck during sleep leads to stretching of ligaments and muscles, which can provoke pain, discomfort in its different parts. This reduces the quality of rest.

Sergey: Poor sleep negatively affects the physical and psycho-emotional state. That is why it is so important to choose the right accessories for a healthy sleep: orthopedic pillows and mattress. They help to monitor the position of the back and head during a night’s rest. Orthopedic pillows fix the spine in a physiologically correct position. In this way, the body is completely relaxed, muscle tension is eliminated, pain in various parts of the body disappears and the quality of sleep improves.

Keep your balance
To ease the first working day after the weekend is quite simple. First of all, stick to your sleep schedule. You don’t need to try to get a full week’s sleep on the weekend, stick to your usual schedule. On weekdays, try to find time for training in the fitness room and walks in the fresh air. This will help you maintain your natural biological rhythms.

Sergei: The psychological component is also important. Don’t live from weekend to weekend. Find time for your favorite activities, spend more time with loved ones. Do not leave all the pleasant things to the weekend, and then the working weeks will bring pleasure. Of course, it is worth doing the work that you really like. In this case, exceptionally positive emotions are provided.
