Where do Russian athletes like to vacation? They choose not only abroad

Watching the various achievements of Russian athletes is one of the favorite pastimes of many people. But it is no less pleasant to look at the happy faces of our champions on vacation after an incredibly difficult season. Here is where Russian athletes spend their vacations.

Maldives

This tropical country attracts thousands of tourists around the world every year, including Russian athletes. Many of them like to sunbathe on the sandy beaches of the Indian Ocean and admire the incredibly beautiful scenery. This year Maldives was especially popular among Russian figure skaters.

It seemed that almost the entire national team arrived here. Photos from this beautiful place can be found on the pages of champions and medalists of the 2021 World Championships: Anna Scherbakova, Elizaveta Tuktamysheva, Alexandra Boikova and Dmitry Kozlovsky, as well as other members of the national team: Vladimir Morozov, Alexandra Stepanova and Ivan Bukin.

Maldives became a vacation destination for one of the world’s strongest skiers Alexander Bolshunov, who went here with his wife Anna Zherebyatieva, a former member of the cross-country skiing team. Skier Yulia Stupak also spent her vacation here.

Volleyball players Alexei Volkov and Denis Bogdan, tennis player Karen Khachanov and former gymnast Karolina Sevastyanova went on vacation here.

Dubai, UAE

The Maldives can compete with the capital of the United Arab Emirates – Dubai. It is also quite a popular vacation spot for our athletes. This year figure skaters Alexandra Trusova, Sofia Samodurova, Evgenia Tarasova and Elizaveta Nugumanova flew here.

Gymnast Nikita Nagorny and his wife, former gymnast of the Russian national team Daria Spiridonova, decided to gain strength before the Olympic Games in Tokyo.

Biathlete Svetlana Mironova, skeleton player Yulia Kanakina, gymnast Yana Kudryavtseva and volleyball player Ilyas Kurkaev also shared photos from their vacation in Dubai this year.

Turkey

Sunny Turkey, long known to many fans of foreign resorts, this year was almost inaccessible for Russian tourists due to restrictions. But it is impossible not to talk about such a popular destination.

Every year, athletes chose this country. In 2019, figure skaters Alyona Kostornaya and Kamila Valieva, as well as Sochi Olympic champion Adelina Sotnikova vacationed here.

In different years here spent their vacations bright representatives of our biathlon team: Anton Shipulin and Evgeny Garanichev.

And this year Alexander Ovechkin arrived here on a private plane with his family and friend, hockey player Dmitry Yashkin.

USA

The United States is rich in various resorts: here you can ski and sunbathe on the beach.

In 2021, Russian national team volleyball player Egor Klyuka went here on vacation. He vacationed in New York and shared photos of various sights of this city.

Tennis player Daniil Medvedev chose Miami to recover from an incredibly productive last season, where he spent time sunbathing on a sandy beach.

And Evgeni Malkin, hockey player of the Russian national team, decided to spend an active vacation without leaving the United States, where he is now training. For this purpose, the state of Colorado was chosen, where the athlete went with his family.

Another famous Russian athlete, swimmer Yulia Efimova, pleased her audience with picturesque photos from Hawaii.

Russia

But many Russian athletes like to travel around their home country. Still, they spend most of the season abroad and get bored.

For example, Denis Cheryshev, who trains in Spain, decided to spend time with his family in Altai. Biathlete of the Russian national team Anton Babikov went to the east of the country to Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky to enjoy the scenery of Khalaktyrsky beach.

And hockey players Kirill Kaprizov and Artemi Panarin, who play in the NHL, spent the summer vacationing in their native villages: Kuzedeev and Korkino, sharing funny photos and videos of rural life.

The advantage of vacationing in Russia is also the opportunity to stay busy. This is confirmed by photos from the Instagram of Tatiana Navka, Evgenia Medvedeva, Alina Zagitova and other figure skaters performing in ice shows in Sochi.
