How does Maria Sharapova keep in shape?

The Japanese called her the most beautiful Russian, and for good reason.

Recently, the Japanese publication Menjoy released a ranking of the most beautiful Russian women. The first place in the list was taken by former tennis player Maria Sharapova. She announced her retirement at the end of February.

As a professional athlete, Sharapova has always adhered to proper nutrition and diet. However, she could not completely give up sweets even then. We tell you how the tennis player manages to keep herself in shape today.

Stop foods

To keep her figure, Maria decided to give up many products that are familiar to most people. So, in her diet there is no place for sausages, mutton, pork, fatty fish. The athlete also refused butter and vegetable oil, semolina, rice, buckwheat, potatoes. Sharapova eats only cottage cheese from dairy products.

In general, the girl carefully monitors the ratio of bek, fats and carbohydrates in her menu.

“I follow the regime. I would say that I have 80 on 20 in the ratio: 80% of the time I eat only what I should,” Maria told in one of the interviews in 2019.

Nevertheless, occasionally Sharapova can afford fast food. However, she tries not to abuse cheatmilas.

A lot of water and a little bit of sweet

Every day, the athlete starts with a lot of water – adds a lemon to it and drinks at least half a liter. The girl tries to drink before every meal and additionally during jogging to maintain water balance.

The former tennis player eats three times a day, and in between the main meals can snack – for example, nuts, fruit or lean ham.

Despite the restrictions due to her sports diet, Sharapova has never been able to give up desserts completely. She even founded her own company Sugarpova, which produces specialty sweets and chocolates.

Maria herself believes that sometimes a small amount of sweet is just necessary for the body.

“As for food that cannot be called proper, I immediately remember how my grandmother used to bake delicious sweet pies. When I eat sweets, I immediately remember that time. But I do not consume so much sweets: a candy, a small chocolate bar. Sometimes I need that too. Sometimes I feel that I need such a treat,” – admitted the tennis player in an interview for Tennis World USA.

In addition, despite the end of her career, Sharapova continues to maintain physical fitness. She organizes home workouts, does not refuse jogging and even works out on the beach with a personal trainer.
