13 signs of a lazy person. Check yourself against the list

Sometimes people tend to procrastinate or make no effort to do what they want or are expected to do. The mechanism of laziness is triggered when our subconscious mind starts to categorize the upcoming work as a useless, resource- and time-consuming endeavor, even if a person consciously understands the importance and necessity of doing the work.

Laziness is an unwillingness to expend energy. It is an unwillingness to do a task that we find difficult or uncomfortable.

Here are some signs and patterns exhibited by a person with a tendency to laziness.

You have a lot of excuses, complaining and blaming. For a lazy person, there is always something or someone getting in the way of doing what they should be doing at the right time. There is always an excuse for not accomplishing or completing a task on time. Blaming becomes a habit and people expect little action and more complaining from you. This is a sign that you are lazy.

You have more time for leisure than for work. A lazy person does not get remorse from doing absolutely nothing and wasting time. Killing time in the phone, TV series, computer games and lounging on the couch – the ideal daily routine.

You leave things undone. A lazy person has a list of things they have started but not completed. The inability to complete a task is due to indiscipline. The person is not accustomed to sticking it out until the end, also he or she lacks a good source of internal motivation.

You are more disorganized than disciplined. Being organized is not the lazy person’s strongest point. He spends almost no time planning his day or organizing his activities.

You often “procrastinate.” You are the king of procrastination. For the more persistent procrastinators, it’s not a matter of not wanting to do the work, but of wanting to do it perfectly and, as a result, fearing that it might not be achieved.

You avoid initiative. Such a person is unlikely to do something at will. He usually likes to sit back and watch until someone else does something first. A lazy person usually likes other people to take the initiative, including for his actions.

You give up easily. Aside from the fact that you leave many tasks unfinished, you will not attempt to embark on any task that the mind considers difficult. Why? Because you are either afraid of failing or you spend a lot of time on the task.

You are comfortable being dependent on others. It is problematic for a lazy person to take care of themselves. Comfortable leading a parasitic lifestyle in which others have to take care of him.

Always on the lookout for easy ways out. Finding an easy way out doesn’t have to be a bad thing, right? After all, many modern inventions were born out of the need to simplify tasks. However, a lazy person doesn’t want to put enough necessary effort into everything.

There is no sense of urgency. Such people are annoyingly slow at many things. They tend to be late for events, keep people waiting for long periods of time, and take offense when they are rushed.

Too often busy but don’t make their time count. When a person gives the impression that he or she is too busy all the time, yet can’t tell how they manage their time, it is a sign of laziness.

Usually, during working hours, such a person gets involved in minor activities like watching video clips, sleeping, playing games, going from one application to another, worrying about unnecessary things, etc., and this limits his productivity.

Incidentally, such a person may feel exhausted at the end of each “busy day” without even knowing why. But the mind has already registered its cycle of unimportant activities as work.

You don’t have much energy. Sloths are not the most energetic people in the world. More often than not, they will often complain about their fatigue and overwork.

There is no desire or attempt to get better. A lazy person has no interest in improving his life. He does not try to take care of his health, improve his life circumstances, or take care of himself in any way for the sake of getting better.

How to stop being lazy

Learn to give meaning to everything that happens.

To stop being lazy and start changing your lifestyle, it is important to understand yourself. Every day ask yourself the question, “What do I really want?”. Also, in all your failures do not blame someone, but ask yourself: “What did I do wrong? What did I do wrong?”. Inculcate in yourself the principle of constantly filling your energy. Make it your habit.

Develop resilience. To do this, instead of asking yourself, “Why am I doing this?” ask yourself: “What is this for?”. This way you will have more energy and thus less laziness.

In trying to achieve some goal, you will inevitably have to face difficulties. In his book “Principles. Life and Work” Ray Dalio wrote: “If you can form the habit of analyzing the causes of pain, rather than avoiding it, it will help you develop much faster”.
