New Year’s weekend: where Russian athletes are vacationing

The series of January holidays is a real joy for workaholics, because this is the time when you can finally rest. For Russian athletes, 2019 turned out to be a tough, sometimes exciting and energy-consuming year. Therefore, now is the best time for them to devote themselves to their loved ones and relax. Some even decided to combine the pleasant with the useful and rushed abroad. We tell you where our sports stars are spending their New Year’s weekend.

Igor Akinfeev

The old year turned out to be a turning point for the experienced goalkeeper: Akinfeev finished his career with the Russian national team. The public assiduously discussed the player’s decision and even promised him a return to the national team. Not surprisingly, Igor decided to meet the 2020th peaceful together with his wife Ekaterina Gerun.

The couple went to the shores of the Indian Ocean. And although the athlete is not in social networks, Ekaterina shares with subscribers their joint photos from the vacation.

Another Russian soccer player had another 2019 that was both exhausting and momentous. In September, Pavel was released, and already at the end of December he went to Dubai together with his wife Alana and children.

Mamaev himself is in no hurry to share pictures in his “instagram”. But his wife actively publishes shots from the streets of the resort, from restaurants and hotel rooms. And even brags about expensive Louis Vuitton purchases.

For our tennis players, the holidays are no reason to relax. Already on January 3, the ATP 2020 Cup started in Perth, Australia, and on January 20, the Australian Open starts in Melbourne. Therefore, both Daniel and Karen have already left to win trophies on the other continent. But they don’t forget to relax on the local beaches!

The athletes arrived in Australia before the New Year. By the way, they had spent some time in the Arab Emirates before that, so it didn’t take them long to get used to the warm climate.

For Medvedev and Russian tennis as a whole, 2019 turned out to be a big breakthrough. Unfortunately, during the New Year holidays, the athlete can not reward himself with a legal vacation, but he had time in advance to relax in the Maldives in November.
