Rambo Forever. Stallone’s 73, and he’s in great shape.

Last week the international trailer of the movie “Rambo: The Last Blood” was released. The picture will appear in Russian cinemas on September 19. Since the release of the first part of the cult franchise, 37 years have passed, the performer of the main role Sylvester Stallone is already 73, and he is still in great physical shape. “One Man’s War” is still Stallone’s war.

How did Stallone prepare for filming?

With each new part of “Rambo” Sylvester Stallone built up his muscles, becoming more and more athletic. In many ways with this helped him two-time winner of the title of “Mr. Olympia”, one of the most famous bodybuilders in the world Franco Colombo, who for several years was his personal trainer. Thanks to training with Colombo Stallone kept fit and prepared for filming “Rocky” and “Rambo”.

“Rambo: First Blood,” 1982.

“Rambo: First Blood 2,” 1985.

“Rambo 3,” 1988.

“Rambo IV,” 2008.

“Rambo: Last Blood,” 2019.

Sly put out a hundred percent, and his determination is amazing. He always accomplishes his goal. He’s a leader. He never sits still and doesn’t just let things happen, he’s the one who makes them happen! – Franco Colombo said.

For the role of John Rambo Stallone needed to gain muscle mass. Training was different from the preparation for “Rocky”, where Stallone played a boxer, and therefore performed a lot of cardio exercises, running and boxing. This time for such training to spend calories was not allowed. Strength training in the gym was preferred. With the help of bodybuilders, with whom the actor had time to get acquainted, he gained four kilograms of lean muscle mass without excess fat.

Now age does not allow the actor to conduct such intensive training, so he reduced the load. Nevertheless, Sly’s program is unlikely to be in the power of most people of his age.

Stallone’s daily schedule and training regimen

Morning:

7:30 – rising, taking aminoxylots.
7:45 – breakfast with easily digestible food (2 eggs, 4 figs, toasted bread of coarse rye flour).
8:00 – 9:00 – rest.
9:00 – training:
warm-up – 10 minutes,
working out arm muscles – 45 minutes,
delts – 25 minutes.
Training of abdominal muscles – 25-30 minutes.
At the end – 500 turns with a gymnastic stick.

12:30 – lunch (salad, fried chicken, fried zucchini, fruit).

Second half of the day

Solving business issues.
Dinner: fried fish, salad, spinach, two slices of toasted dark bread.

From time to time, instead of chicken and fish, the actor eats veal. But any meat in Stallone’s diet, he says, is prepared simply and low in fat. At one time, his diet was so impeccable that if he ate a hot dog, he would get painful cramps and spasms.

Stallone usually works out three days in a row and rests the fourth day. If there is a tough business week ahead, the number of workouts is reduced to two times, and the amount of food is also halved.

I drive my body like a car. If I have a long road ahead of me, I replenish my fuel – good foods high in energy. If I’m not going to do much, I keep my “tank” half empty.

Last August, a video of him training for filming the latest installment of “Rambo” appeared on Stallone’s official Instagram.

Getting ready to be Rambo. The fact that you’ve reached a certain age doesn’t mean you have to feel that age. Pump iron, strike! – reads the caption to the publication.

Sylvester Stallone firmly believes in what the ancient Greek philosopher Plato preached, “To be a fully developed man, you must build your mind and body equally.”

Stallone is the clearest example that it is never too late to start working out. The actor started working out regularly to improve his physical shape when he was already 30.
