Smart fitness mirror for workouts

The founder of the invention made a fortune on this in self-isolation.

It would seem that during self-isolation, doing sports with a trainer became almost unrealistic. But the former ballerina Brynn Putnam solved this problem. The girl transported home two smart mirrors for fitness, the production of which is engaged in her company Mirror.

What is a fitness mirror?

Externally, Mirror does not differ from an ordinary mirror. Its width is 56 cm, height – 132 cm, and thickness – 3.5 cm. But if this mirror is turned on, a fitness instructor will appear on the screen and will be happy to give you a workout.

Users can see their reflection and work on improving their technique. In addition, customers have access to personalized recommendations and a feature that tracks fitness goals. Management is done through the app. You’ll have to pay a lot for these classes, though – $1,495 for the mirror itself and $39 a month for access to a variety of online workouts lasting 15, 30 or 60 minutes.

There’s one other major downside: the smart mirror has a 5MP camera and microphone, which the company claims only activates during class, but we’re a little confused by that.

The former ballerina’s business is valued at $300 million

Brynn Putnam started her business by opening a fitness club in a space rented from an Orthodox church in Manhattan. And being pregnant, the girl invented a smart mirror for home workouts. Her business became especially popular during the period of self-isolation. Now it is estimated at $ 300 million. And her own fortune of the former ballerina is $ 80 million.

During the pandemic, the company’s revenues will double

After the self-imposed isolation regime, millions of people were forced to stay home and exercise on their own. Sales of interactive mirrors exceeded even the most optimistic forecasts. Putnam’s company was ranked among the 25 most promising startups by Forbes. In 2019, Mirror’s revenues reached $ 45 million, and in 2020 the amount should grow to $ 100 million. The next goal of the company’s founder is to do everything possible to ensure that after the end of the pandemic, the interactive mirror will continue to enjoy the same popularity.
